Joseph Man Chan is Research Professor, School of Journalism and Communication and Emeritus Professor of Journalism and Communication at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is currently the Director of the Centre for Chinese Media and Comparative Communication Research and the Universities Service Centre for China Studies. His research interest lies in the intersection of international communication, political communication and journalism studies. His current projects relate to communication and social movements as well as collective memory. He has published numerous articles in books and international journals such as JOC, CR, JMCQ, MC&S, IJPOR, NM&S, China Quarterly, etc. He was elected as ICA Fellow in 2014. He served as a Changjiang Chair Professor at Fudan University and the founding chief editor of Communication & Society.
